Once Theo's back had turned to him, Jander smiled sadistically. His assumption had been borne out: Nott didn't have the stomach for this. He was just another schemer and planner who had other people do the work he couldn't do himself.
Jander's face had returned to its usual smugness by the time Theo had turned back around.
"This was no ordinary favor, Mr. Nott, as you know. I took great personal risk," he spoke while twirling Lisa's wands in his fingers, waiting to see if Nott would ask for it. "And incurred quite a few wounds that will never heal. Part," he emphasized, "of my payment will be unlimited access to the library at your mansion. The rest of my payment will come in due time."
He spoke in an authoritative tone, not that he had any delusion that he could intimidate Theo, but simply so the wizard would know he was being taken serious.
