Summary: Rodolphus admires his future.
Rodolphus stood at the end of the crib in the nursery and looked down at his infant son with a smug, satisfied look on his face. His son. His son. Rhisiart Riordan Lestrange. The continuation of his bloodline and the heir to the Lestrange fortune as well as everything he intended to deliver to his son. The wizarding world for a start. His son would be the master of it all.
He turned his head then stepped over to the other crib and looked down at his sleeping infant daughter with an indulgent smile. Alcyone Ryder Lestrange. She showed signs of being as glorious as her mother but he suspected that was his own welf-indulgence showing there. She was beautful though.
"Are you finally satisfied?"
Rodolphus turned to face his wife and his smile became more sensual. It was no surprise to him to see her up and about already. She was always the last to admit to or acknowledge any infirmities. If she was in any pain or discomfort from the birth, she was either ignoring it... or knowing Bella, revelling in it. He prowled over to her and slid an arm around her waist, pulling her hard against him. He eyed her with what was almost cool interest before he finally relented and kissed her, biting down hard on her bottom lip and extracted both a gasp and the taste of blood.
"I believe I am," he said when he pulled away, smirking at the blood on Bella's bottom lip. "A fine son and a beautiful daughter. What more can a man ask for?"
Bella sneered and at no time did her gaze drift towards the cribs. The babies had been born and her part was well and truly over. Rodolphus was quite happy for that to be so and made a mental note to ward the nursery against her in the next few days. He would not have a repeat of past incidents.
"I suppose I owe you my thanks, my pet," he said with arch amusement.
Bella looked imperious as she licked the blood from her lip. "You do. You owe me six months worth of thanks."
Rodolphus pretended to contemplate this then he smirked. "And would making a decisive move against those fools in Hogsmeade go some way towards mollifying you, my pet?"
Bella's eyes narrowed and he could feel her interest in the way she tensed in his grip. "What do you have planned?" she asked suspicuously.
Rodolphus chuckled and stepped away from his wife. He held out one hand to her. "Come and see." He pulled her close again when she took his hand and he leaned in close to her ear, biting down hard on her earlobe before saying quietly and intently. "And afterwards I shall find a more... personal way of thanking you."
A cruel, triumphant smile grew on Bella's face and she allowed herself to be pulled out of the nursery, not sparing a single glance for the children she had given birth to.
