RP: Anything Voldemort Can Do
Date: 1 October 2006 Characters: Rodolphus Lestrange Location: Five Ashes Private/Public: Private Rating: PG Warnings: None Summary: Rodolphus puts step one of his plans into place and meets with success.
Rodolphus stood in the basement room he’d set aside as a workroom in his new home in Five Ashes. He held his wand in his hand and on a small table next to him was a thin leather-bound journal. He had shed his shirt and the stump of his arm was revealed in its full glory. His research into Voldemort’s effects had finally paid dividends. He had found the journal the Dark Lord had referenced for the spell that gave Wormtail his silver hand. It was an old one and, of course, contained far more than the spell he wanted to use. He suspected the spell was one the Voldemort had found interesting and had turned out to be useful in the circumstances that had surrounded his return. Wormtail had turned out to be snivellingly grateful after all.
But his time the spell wasn’t going to be used on anyone else, it was going to be used on himself, to restore the arm that had been lost. He’d learned to cope without his arm but that didn’t mean he liked it. He would give a great deal to have the arm restored, even if it was in a somewhat... interesting fashion.
He opened the journal to the page he required then raised his wand. The spell was simple but he knew it would take a great deal of power for something as large as an arm. Voldemort had had the advantage of being surrounded by extraneous magic when he’d created Wormtail’s hand. He set aside everything else in his mind and concentrated solely on the spell.
He spoke a single sharp word and silver mist began to curl and swirl out of the end of his wand. For a moment it did nothing then the swirling increased and it made its way to the end of his stump.
The moment it touched his skin, pain went searing through him. Rodolphus gritted his teeth and held himself still as the silver slowly extended itself down from the stump then solidified into a silver arm and hand. The spell finally ended at that point and Rodolphus’ knees went out from underneath him and he collapsed to the floor.
He slowly turned himself over onto his back and lay there, shuddering slightly as the weakness from the spell settled in. Finally he raised his new arm and clenched his hand into a fist then relaxed it again. He transferred his wand over to his new hand and gave it a flick.
Magic surged through him and he arched an eyebrow as the spell not only achieved the effect he’d been aiming for – unlocking the doors – but also threw them open as well. Interesting. Clearly the spell had some fascinating side effects.
He slowly clambered to his feet, swaying slightly before steadying himself. He needed to rest first. Then he could show Bella the results of his spell and they could make plans for the future. He had something in mind that would put paid to whatever it was that Theodore had picked up from his mind... not to mention put paid to Theodore himself.
