Cass was both listening and watching carefully, but he didn't say anything. He himself had never had any large clashes with his parents, he loved them both dearly and would not have been able to give Aiden what he needed in this.
He also couldn't help but to wonder if Marietta knew, or even cared about, the pain she was causing her - their - son. He wasn't sure what it was, but he felt strangely protective of Aiden already, even if he didn't think he knew him well enough to feel like he was his son. He tried to assure himself that that part would come. Maybe the nervousness and fear of failure would let go of him then too.
His attention shifted when he from the corner of his eye saw a movement in the room, something white and fluffy coming slowly through the door. He smiled.
'Look who decided she wanted to say hello,' he said to Aiden, pointing at Sabina who was taking a lapse around the room, rubbing up against everything new in the room to make sure everyone knew this was hers. Cass smirked, calling her name softly and patting his lap. For a moment Sabina just looked at him, then she lazily moved across the floor and made an agile jump into his lap, purring as she rubbed against Cass too, demanding to be scratched.
'This little princess is Sabina,' Cass said as she tried his lap with her paws before lying down in it, peering up at the new person in the room. 'She isn't as playful as Plato, but she is very nice and she likes to be scratched behind the ears like this,' he said, showing Aiden. 'Just let her smell you first,' he added, watching as Aiden slowly stretched out his hand and letting the cat smell him. Sabina feigned disinterest at first, but soon enough sat up and started rubbing herself against Aiden's hand. Surely she couldn't have someone in the house that didn't smell of her. Cass chuckled. 'See she likes you already.'
