'You have nothing to be sorry for,' he said, smiling warmly at Percy. 'It's my family who are the insane ones.' That's when he realised something, and the next moment he started to laugh. 'Fuck, Percy, do you realise what this means to them?' he asked. 'They'll never inherit the manor. Vaisey manor is strictly passed down father to oldest son, no exceptions, ever. That's why my grandfather couldn't will it to my uncle instead of me. The reason he locked it instead.'
He smirked. 'I never thought I'd have kids, my uncle and grandfather surely didn't think I would, but now that I do...Aiden is the heir. His sons after him if he has any. My uncle won't ever be the master of Vaisey manor.'
He was rather pleased with that thought. Though he did realise it put Aiden in more danger. His uncle would not be pleased. Not that it mattered, between Lestrange and his uncle, Cass preferred his Uncle. He could handle and predict him. He had for most of his life.
His gloating came to an abrupt end when Percy continued to speak. He wasn't as sure as Percy was, and he was still scared about being a father, but Percy's support helped. 'Thanks,' he said. 'I'm not sure you're right about me, but I'll do my best. And you're here to tell me when I screw up, that helps,' he added, smirking as he leaned in and brushed his lips against Percy's again.
