Percy didn't feel too calm himself. In fact, it was one of the few times in his life when he felt totally out of control, but he moved closer. He knew this wasn't something that Cass would have chosen, but a child couldn't possibly be a choice to be discarded when inconvenient.
"I 'signed up' to be with you." He caressed Cass' cheek and then his hand rested on Cass's hip. "We will deal with everything together, and everything means this child as well. We'll be fine." From the sound of it, they couldn't do much worse than the mother.
"You'll have to talk to this woman, figure out what's going on with her, because most mothers don't just pack off their children after keeping them a secret for years, and then we take Aiden home and make sure he knows we want him here." He smiled. "See, we just found something to keep you occupied: school, homework." He leaned over and kissed his lover. "We'll find a way, Cass; you'll see." It might not be a perfect way, or even close to great, but they were two smart men who'd seen everything that a family shouldn't be, doing the opposite couldn't be that hard. Percy kept telling himself that, because it was the only thing he could hold on to.
