Tears had been building up in Seamus's eyes ever since the beginning of the conversation with Emma, but now they were finally spilling over the edge, and he shook his head, taking a breath before looking back down at Emma.
He was strongly reminded of the way Caitlin had reacted when he'd first moved out, and the way she'd compared his leaving to her father getting arrested and taken from her.
He cradled Emma in his arms as they both cried.
"I know it won't be the same, and believe me, I would never ever want to leave you. The thought of not being around you all the time makes me really sad, you know that? But you've still got Cormac and Colin here, baby. I have to go take care of Cait. She doesn't have a bunch of silly boys in the house like you do. She's all by herself."
