Theo nodded, looking down at his son, now more than ever having no understanding for his father what so ever.
'Oh I know he was,' he said with a small smile. 'But then I never did hold Nicholas in any high esteem.' Rather no esteem at all, though he did not need to explain that. Rodolphus knew enough.
'There is nothing I wouldn't do to keep him from harm,' he said with a smile as he reached out to touch his son's face. An odd thing to admit perhaps. A weakness, offered willingly. Yet now he did not think of it as such right now. 'And I know I'll be better.' He smirked. 'It would be hard to do worse,' he added with a half laugh.
Glancing outside he could see the world growing lighter again, and the mere sight had him realising how long they both had gone without sleep.
'I should let you go back home,' he said. 'I've kept you up for more than a day and a night. You must be tired.' He was definitely starting to feel tired himself.
