Rodolphus gave his godson a long, understanding look. He knew a great deal of what Theodore had gone through at Nicholas' hands and disapproved of it all. A son.. any child for that matter... was someone to be cherished and raised with love to be the pride and joy of your family name.
"Your father was a fool," he said flatly. "I told him so more than once but he refused to listen. I would have done a great deal to spare you from his idiocy."
Unfortunately during much of that time, he had been in Azkaban. It had only been after they had escaped that he had seen the damage Nicholas had caused to his son. He hadn't been able to change what had happened but he had been able to provide Theodore with what support he could.
He shifted the baby carefully and placed one hand on Theodore's shoulder. "You will not be the same as him. You are a far better man."
