Verity felt two things instantly when reprimanded- both contrasting the other. On one hand she felt shame and a willingness to comply to him as she always did. On the other more frustration and anger welled up inside of her. She had to remind herself that Theo wasn't Monty and she couldn't fight with him as such.
"Of course, my apologies," she said demurely, going back to the half-dead state she found herself in most of the time.
"Thank you, I appriceate it. Has there been any progress in the research? Perhaps I should be looking too..."
Verity thought this whole thing was ridiculous. Montague didn't care if she was accesorizing but obviously Theo did. She sighed and nodded, reaching for the small box between them. She didn't know how she was going to get the energy to be pleased about a gift but she certainly didn't want to insult Theo.
She opened it with care and when she saw the serpent bangle she did manage a small smile at least. "Thank you, Theo, it's beautiful." She held both the box and her arm up to him in a silent request for him to place it on her.
