When he was forced to look at Theo she clenched her jaw but didn't look away. "You don't know that," she said simply. "There's no way of knowing that. And don't you think I know that everyday he stays like his means his chances are less and less?"
She didn't know what to say about 'living'. Her eyes went back to Montague sadly. "Not today. Today I need to be with him," she told Theo.
There was a secret wish, like the magic children play (if you miss all of the cracks then you can have what you want) that she held deep inside of her. Like a birthday wish she was worried it wouldn't work if she spoke it outloud. But today was their anniversary- she hoped, prayed, knew he would wake up today, and she would be there when he woke.
