The answer, as well as the way Rodolphus' tried to pretend he wasn't as ill as he seemed, all added Theo's worry. Was he wrong to doubt him? To think that he had an agenda with this? Yet he couldn't afford not to doubt, not doubting had cost too many people their lives over the years. Doubting was what kept him alive.
'I wondered if you'd heard anything about what happened to Montague,' he asked, as if it was common knowledge already, something he should know something about.
