Cass nodded, hoping that day would come sooner rather than later. He didn't comment though, but laughed instead at Adrian's next words.
'Then I'll hold off listing his virtues.' He grinned 'Let's just say that he told me no, then he saw through all my crap and all my lies and somewhere along the line he got under my skin. I certainly didn't see it happening until it was a fact or I'd likely would have bolted before it got to the point where I resigned in order to get what I want.'
He smiled, though his smile sobered somewhat when Adrian spoke, and he found he didn't at all like what he had to say. 'I don't have a clue. Miles said he'd try to find out, but he's not coming through for me. I was hoping you would have an idea of different placed he could be holding her, and ideas of how to get into them.' He sighed, running a hand through his hair as he leaned back. 'I just feel so fucking useless sitting here doing nothing.'
He was a bit surprised that Adrian hadn't picked up on the fact that there had been no gossip of news of Emilia Romagna being kidnapped. Maybe he really was out of touch with the world at the moment. Not that he minded, the less he had to explain about his mother the better.
