Verity nodded in understanding. "My father was much the same, Slytherin as well. I was off the hook for the most part, being the girl and the baby, but my brothers weren't so lucky."
There was something in his voice- truth, maybe? that caught her attention and she smiled softly at him. She laughed when he back tracked though. "No offense taken. I know what you mean though," she looked out over the crowd, pensive for a moment. "I'm not sure if you've heard of my son? Montague and I are adopting him, I just- well, I know what you mean and we'll leave it at that."
She whinced when he mentioned kidnapping. How could she have forgotten that?! Suddenly she wanted to ask if he was alright, commend him on his escape, and check him over for injuries though it was in the past now. "Right, sorry," she said softly. The mention of Theo had her reeling though. "What does- I would never mean to impose and I certainly won't press you for information but as you seem able to differentiate yourself from Adrian's opinion of me I would hope you understand that I am able to do the same with Theo. Not that I have heard any particular opinions, I don't mean that-" she sighed. She was getting tangled in her words again and this time she really didn't want to upset who she was talking to. "I'm sorry, I'm not at my most eloquent these days," she explained quietly instead of trying to untangle her words.
