He frowned at the question, at first not sure of what she meant until he realised that he hadn't told her everything.
He half laughed, half sighed. 'Trust me I won't make the same mistake twice,' he said, biting his lip. 'Though...I didn't really cheat.'
'I pretended to, to make Percy leave me, and before you ask me why on earth I would do something so stupid...' He paused for a moment. 'My mum, she was kidnapped by Lestrange. They asked me to spy on Percy and instead of thinking rationally, I decided I wanted to protect Percy and get him as far away from me as possible.'
He didn't mention that Lestrange still had his mother, and was sending her to him in pieces when he didn't co-operate. The guilt of not being able to help her still made his stomach churn.
Instead he focused on teddy bears and and surprises and smiled when Pansy seemed so excited at the thought. 'I'll do it as soon as I can,' he promised, with a wink. 'And now you got me really curious about what it is. I swear I will not tell a soul.'
When she mentioned taking Percy to the villa he wasn't sure if he wanted to any more. He had, a few days before he'd set up the cheating, and now he wasn't sure if he could without it bringing up those memories. Maybe he should try?
'Beg and plead until he comes with you,' he said. 'It worked with Percy, even if one night was all I managed to get.'
