'Morag is sure it's all a misunderstanding but I was next to the man and he is very lucky I didn't hex him right then and there.' He shook his head, not wanting to think of it, then hugged her a little tighter as she spoke.
'I would love for them to get to like each other too,' he admitted. 'I just don't have much hope for it, I'm afraid. Maybe with time? And it's definitely not wrong of you to want us to be able to get along together.'
Cass laughed, kissing the top of her head. 'Well you're hoping for Percy to start liking Harry, I think me asking you to play nice with my boss shouldn't be too much to ask,' he said into her hair.
When she started to pet him, he took her hand in his. 'I'm ok, Pansy, don't worry.' He smiled at her, squeezing her hand. 'Thank you for understanding,' he then added. 'It means the world to me that you do.'
When she scolded him for not telling her about the money, though, he sighed. It was harder to explain - how did you explain being so frightened about being exposed that any part of the truth seemed to be a risk he couldn't afford. That every lie was a necessity, every change a danger.
'You did help,' he said instead. 'When I transfigured my robes into looking like they weren't ordinary, cheap or falling apart, you gave me new ones that helped me keep my cover - or break it as it did with Percy,' he amended with a laugh. 'I might have been a bit too happy about those robes when I spoke to him.'
Chuckling he kissed the top of her head again. 'That's exactly what he did,' he then admitted. 'I haven't been able to set foot in the manor since he died and he willed all his money to the Lestranges.' He shrugged.
'Emilia is someone I'll always be grateful to, someone I owe more than I can ever repay. Besides, I've spent time in Italy with her every single summer since I could walk. She's like a fun aunt I've known since I was little.'
