Cass almost spat that if that was the case then maybe they weren't worth having, but stopped himself just in time. Instead he clenched his teeth, trying not to groan with frustration, saying nothing until he could speak in a normal tone again.
'Your family, your children, would be better off with a father who wasn't a Death Eater,' he said quietly. 'Nothing changes that. And I know that Rodolphus doesn't punish just you, or do I need to remind you - again - that my mother is dead because of my choices?'
'I know the price, better than most, which is why you could count on me to make sure that the information never reaches Rodolphus. I've already lost my mum, there is only so much more he can do to me.' Of course if he targeted Percy...but no, not even then, it wouldn't be what Percy wanted. And he'd make sure he'd kept Percy safe. He wouldn't get to him. Not while he himself was still alive and breathing.
He probably should be insulted at Montague's last words, but instead he couldn't help but to almost laugh, this was so ridiculous. 'So that's your defence when asked why you joined an organisation that kill people because of their blood-status? Who rape, and mutilates, and tortures men, women and children without discrimination? Who kidnap people's family and - in your own words - punish everyone you care about - whether they've done anything or not, when you do not follow orders? Because not everyone on the other side is nice? Do you even hear yourself?'
He tried not to focus on the we-part, and what it indicated. Instead he looked up at the ceiling, letting out a slow breath before speaking again, his voice still calm, quiet, soft. 'One thing you should know, I'll let you compare me to murderers, rapists, and child-molesters this one time, because you're upset and I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt. Ever group me with maniacs like that again, so help me I'll kick your arse. The Muggle way.'
