"And that's how it should be," Draco replied. He liked appearances. He thrived on it and he used it for his own purposes. It was something that came naturally and it was much better than the horrible Gryffindor tendency to mask things.
Draco knew what Severus was doing, and there was a thrill going down in his spine, both of pride and fear. He'd lived skirting the edge, always appearing to be loyal to both sides, and never committing, but now there was no hiding behind words and explanations. Now, they were coming out and he'd have to deal with friends who were on opposite sides. Hopefully, he could still try and convince a few of them to get to the right side.
He looked back. "I think we just got into a lot more trouble than Faustus could ever imagine," he said with a smile. "And don't worry. I know what I can listen to, and I have the house elves to do the rest."
