Cass realised that he could easily understand why Percy liked her, especially when she laughed like that. He smiled in return, though he couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow when she suggested that what she had done was bad enough to scare Percy. Still, he said nothing, just listened until she was finished.
'So basically I'd be working like now, though solely on things that has to do with the war or the bitch who holds office?' he asked, pondering the situation. It wasn't a bad one, and it would give him a chance to get back at Rodolphus. Now that, especially, sounded appealing.
'So I report this to you, I suppose, but how about what I say at home?' he asked. 'Would I be expected to keep things from Percy, or would I be able to tell him what I am working on?'
It was a necessity for him, not only because he'd promised to keep nothing from Percy, but because some of what he learnt no doubt could be useful for him - and for the department - to know.
