Yes, but if it had been that easy to find them, the war would already be over, Morag thought to herself, but she didn't say it aloud. Kindly, she offered, 'If they aren't hard lessons, we don't tend to learn them as well, though we wish it otherwise.'
Morag relaxed a little into the chair and laughed. It was a genuine and appreciative laugh, and she liked that he was able to keep his head about him in spite of the circumstances. Would that he'd managed it before all this, but....
She gave him a friendly look as she took a moment to analyze what she could pick up about his frame of mind and attitudes and health. She was still a Ravenclaw. She just didn't restrict her pursuit of knowledge to books.
'We can work out some of the details between ourselves,' she told him. 'What I had in mind is similar to part of what I did for Tiberius but for Merlin's sake don't explain it that way to Percy without any details!' She rolled her eyes. 'You'll give him a coronary!'
She smiled, one that generally had the effect of helping the other person relax. 'In his line of work, what Tiberius needed most was information. Oh, he had reports...foot after foot of parchment of them telling him all about what others wanted him to know. Part of my job was to find out what they weren't telling him...in some cases what they didn't want him to know. It's that facet of my former job where I was hoping to start.'
'You have an easy-going personality and can charm almost anyone. People warm to you easily and talk to you. And while your physical appearance is pleasant enough, it doesn't have any attributes that stand out so much they can't be hidden.' She tilted her head. 'Hair growing charm, a few scraggly whiskers, some well-worn clothes, and you could spend all night in a bar without anyone being able to remember enough to pick you out later.' She grinned.
'Plus you've got invaluable Auror training. You know how to investigate something, what's important to the case and what isn't, how to follow leads, what to do with the information, and how to present it. What I'm suggesting you might think of as similar to a Muggle private investigator. Only instead of multiple clients, you have just me. And at this point in time, what I'm interested in is two things: information that will help end this War and information on what Umbridge is doing and who she's planning to target next. If something big comes up, we might add that to the list....we'll have to take that as it comes.'
