Percy sighed. "Yeah, well, I still should have talked to you, and it's not just sharing, Cass. Relationships come with responsibilities and commitments. Can you imagine having the same sense of duty toward more than one person? I certainly can't." He wasn't sure if he was even explaining this right, but he wanted Cass to understand that it ran deeper than the unwillingness to share.
"It's all right. We probably should have done this when we got involved, but I didn't want you to lose your job nor did I want to give up mine. I still don't want to, but as you said, we have no choice." In the end, Cass had the worse side of the deal. He'd come out and then ignore people. It wasn't like he wasn't used to ignoring them.
"You shouldn't worry. I wasn't looking at women much either. I was too busy working," he said smiling. "Probably would have kept on going like that if you hadn't decided to use my chair as your personal spot when you were bored."
