Ella frowned at Pansy's explanation. 'But we don't know and grown-ups won't explain it to us, it's not fair,' she said firmly. She had asked after all, and they wouldn't answer her.
She took another biscuit, nodding happily when she ate it. Her feet were kicking back and forward under her chair and she had a hard time sitting still. She liked playing with Polly and Harry and Pansy.
'Mummy is tired a lot, that's why daddy thinks she's not sleeping, but I've seen her sleep lots when I come home from school. Sometimes I can't wake her, so then I play with big Dragon or Cat outside. Once, Cat got a hold of mummy's wand and when I got it from her I did magic. But mummy didn't noticed that the flower pot was broken so I didn't tell her. I'm not s'posed to do magic. You won't tell, will you?'
