Pansy felt the urge to put her hand to her head as Ella began a fairly correct explanation for making babies, but she resisted it. Instead, she blinked rapidly a few times.
'In case he didn't mention it, making babies is something you don't want to do until you're an adult,' she said finally. She smiled. 'Twenty-five, at least,' she added. She wasn't sure where that last part had come from, but she thought she might change it to thirty when she brought it up with Polly.
'Yes, darling, grown-ups know. They don't talk about it....because they don't need to explain something they all already know,' she finished lamely. How on earth had she gotten into this conversation???!!!
'Mummy is sleeping a lot?' she repeated, frowning. 'But your daddy thinks she's not sleeping?' That didn't make sense. That Millicent was forgetting things was even more worrying. 'I've tried to talk to your mummy several times when I've come to get you, but she's never been able to visit....' she mused aloud.
