Cass nodded slowly, though he didn't want to accept it. He'd never been good at accepting rejection, but even he knew that for once he might have to. Not that he was giving up so easily now that he realised what a mistake he'd done.
When Percy said there was nothing to explain though, the slightly sad smile was an image of his father's.
'I almost wish that were true,' he said softly, wondering where to begin, where to start. Somehow words like it wasn't what it seemed or you got the wrong impression probably wouldn't go over too well.
'Rodolphus found out about us,' he said instead, hoping it would explain more. 'He also found out about my mother.'
