There was honest sorrow in her voice, and Guilian really didn't want to talk about it. Some women (his mother included) would have wanted to go on and on about it for hours. But just hearing Gabrielle offer us what he knew to be a heartfelt apology, just made him nod.
"You have nothing to apologise for, Gabrielle." He flicked his gaze back to her, but his thoughts had returned to himself for a moment.
He'd always had trouble when people spoke ill of his father, but to her her chastise them both - well, Guilian could only imagine Gabrielle standing up to Don. The idea was one that truly did manage to bring back some good cheer.
"I know,' he sighed. "I just know him well enough to let him stew in peace." Putting his head to the side, deep in thought, he actually knew how he'd hurt his father. But in his own way, Don 'knew' what was right, without consulting him. "I consider myself chastised." He sat back and gave her a lazy grin. "How is it that in just a few words, you can pull me out of my darker thoughts, and I feel like I'm a changed man?" He voiced the question, wondering if Gabrielle had some sort of answer.
He tried to just forget about his father, laughing at Gabrielle's mention of their host. "Well we are his customers tonight, so I am sure if he wants to keep us happy, he'll do exactly as we ask."
"But if he wants to talk, perhaps we'll have a rather pressing engagement on the dance floor?" He pondered her dislike. "But honestly, I don't take you as the type of person who would dislike someone. What has Malfoy done to earn your disfavour?"
