Guilian noticed that she was watching everyone and everything, taking in all that she surveyed. It made him smile. This was no vapid and bored girl who cared only for herself and not others.
He could now begin to see all of the flaws in Opal - how she had thought of little more than herself, and her own pleasure. Guilian could say the same for himself at the time, but he was growing up now, realising that there was just as much pleasure to be found in giving joy to others.
She positively beamed at the mention of her music, and he could sense the passion for it as she spoke. "Well then, I look forward to the reaction you get. I'll be listening." He thought of stores that could sell it, and nodded.
"You know, I know a few places across Europe that would certainly be interested in your music." He didn't want to sound too forward. "I mean, that is if you are interested in someone to distribute it for you. A talent like yours should be shared with as many as possible."
When she returned to English, he held a smile. "Isn't English just the harshest language? The words - they sound so hard." He'd spoken English alongside Italian since he was a little boy, so it came more naturally, and he could turn his accent on and off at a whim.
But at the mention of the house hunt, he simply smiled. "Oh, I have a place that seems to have potential. I'm not going to let the buyer know it's the only place that I truly like. He wants far more money than it is worth, and I'm going to see if he'll settle on an offer that is more aligned to what it's worth. Not that I'm being stingy, of course. I just don't like bad investments."
