"Don't. It's really not worth it, baby. You have to work with the idiot and that's why I never said anything, it's also why I didn't want some of your friend in whatever we're calling house at the moment," Stephen said
"It was fine; I was fine, but it was a nice gesture, and I only shared meals that I cooked with her. She bought the stuff, I'd cook, we'd both eat," he said. It was strange talking about her like this, almost ignoring the good and bad times.
"I know all of that, and I'd never take advantage of that. I know intellectually that it wouldn't mean anything, I've listened to all the reason, but I could never sit back and watch you with someone else, and I don't know why we're still discussing it," he said with a smile. "Neither one of us wants it. It'd be so tacky if you had to arrest me for killing your lover."
Stephen took Adrian's hand, and squeezed it gently. "I don't know what the fuck just went through your head, but we're going away. It's fine; it's more than fine."
