"Oh, I'm fine," Dora said, her lips pinching slightly as she thought. "Aunt Bella's better than fine, you see. She's in the family way and I had the wonderful fortune of discovering such as I was about to make her spew her entrails all over the place. If I'd have done that I likely would've killed the baby."
She went to cross her arms ad winced when she actually did and yanked too hard on her injury. "So I'm going to have another cousin, but I can't help but think that my aunt is the last person who needs to bring a life into this world. It's not fair." Her lips fell into an unintentional pout, because she really didn't find it right at all.
"I couldn't do a thing to her," she explained. "I told her to get away."
