Susan saw him deflect her curse and then hesitate. There was something in the way that he looked at her. It was as if he was... thinking.
There really wasn't any room for such foolishness on the damn battlefield. Idiot, she thought.
But then as quickly as he hesitated, he got a body bind through her defences, and she fell to the ground with a thud. Now she was the one cursing herself for not letting off more curses. Just because he was Cass' cousin, didn't mean he deserved an ounce of consideration.
He stood over her, and she wondered if this was the end. Bloody hell, she'd never forgive herself if it ended like this - Cass wouldn't either. Now who was the idiot?
But then he just looked at her, and she wondered if he wasn't just a little touched in the head. "What are you waiting for?" she managed to say with all the confidence she could muster. She wasn't going to show any fear at the end.
