Her eyes widened, as Gabrielle had never seen a human do a trick quite like Antonin's. His mention of Veela blood made her thoughtful; perhaps everybody had 'dark creature' in them. What could Umbridge possibly do about THAT? ...Actually, that was an ugly thought. Ouf...
"That Lee Jordan has taken to calling me 'Songbird.' It has just been a day for pet names, I guess!"
She turned her nose up pridefully at his bit of admiration. "I am not as brave or smart as my sister, but I have my moments, I think. Her expression warmed. For a moment, she thought about the massive amount of money the Dolohovs must have had, and how much she gave up to leave France. It did not matter, though, as she was happy. "Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me. It is most important."
His generosity seemed almost unending, and while it made Gabrielle smile, she could still not grasp why he made such a turnaround. "Stop me if this is not my place, but... why are you doing so much for the good people of the world now? You speak in a way that is selfless, but..." Another hesitation. "Forgive me, please, but I am aware that your past is not, ehm... perfectly pure?"
She exhaled visibly. That was possibly the most outspoken statement she had ever made. What business of hers was it? When it came to protecting her sister, Gabbi was a different person. She had not even asked about her own, personal preservation yet.
"I love the water; I believe we've talked about it," she grinned. "It will have to wait for at least a bit, though, as I believe I am going to London to record some music of mine." Though it would not work nearly as well on such a committed man, Gabrielle batted her eyelashes a bit before adding, "I am sure that you have many contacts there."
