"That's always good. Much better than getting in trouble for mangling it." Which, of course, some people would get insulted. Lee wasn't proficient, but neither was he horrible. Something about being able to use his voice the way he did gave him an ear for picking things up.
"Yes, they can be a touchy bunch at times, but very good when you treat them right. My mother is actually a Muggle, or perhaps a Squib of some sort, but some of her extended family are magical -- pretty much a mixed bunch in those parts where there aren't many obvious people around."
Perhaps not something he should admit, but he wasn't ashamed of his mother. She was a remarkable woman. And his extended family had taught him some of that unique and sometimes dangerous magic during his stay there, which might one day come in handy.
