Liam liked Dora lots. She said things that made lots of sense. "Yes!" he agreed, his mouth already full of cake. The icing was thick and delicious, and he thought that he should eat as much as possible before Daphee came around and saw him. He'd pertend that he hadn't eaten any, and then she'd let him and Nigel have some more. It was a perfect plan.
"I thought daddy was a bad pirate when I met him," he said once he swallowed. "I came downstairs and he was just there, eating my birfday cake, and then Mummy 'milda came screaming down the stairs and then 'Cent hexed him out on the street."
"Mummy said he was bad, but he's my dad." he just shrugged, not truly understanding why his Mummy had wanted to keep him away from Daddy.
At the mention of her pertekting the cake with her scary face, he burst out laughing. "No wonder bad pirates are skeered of water nymphs!"
