Date: 5th June 2006 Characters: Kevin Entwhistle, Nikita (NPC) Location: 7 Sterling Close Private/Public: Private Rating: PG-13 Warnings: House elf doing too much Summary: Kevin gets an idea when Nikita shows up frustrated
Kevin had been working on several ideas since returning from his birthday celebration with Anthony and Megan. Working with Lee and planning a few things were the beginning, but he had a few he wanted to possibly run past Morag.
He didn't know if she was about, so he called for Nikita. "Could you..." he said as he turned, but trailed off when he saw the elf. He looked steady and groomed as usual, but he looked a bit weary. "Are you all right?" he asked, genuinely concerned. He was never one to treat a elf like he or she was lesser than he was.
The elf took a breath and said, "Permission to speak freely, sir?" Kevin nodded, noticing the elf was a bit put off. "I know that the Captain told you I was available to you... but between working for him, sending your messages, and other things... I cannot keep up." He watched the elf sigh. "Magical I may be, sir, but I am only one elf."
Kevin listened and nodded. "Please sit down," he said, offing the chair next to him. "We need to come up with a solution. One that frees you up, yet can help all of us who need you..." He thought for several moments while Nikita rested, seemingly glad for the break.
Suddenly, it struck him. "Why don't you recruit other elves? There are several strays in town who would love to work." He saw Nikita consider and smile at the idea. "Gather them... tell them what needs to be done... then assign them to certain people... myself, Fleur, Gabrielle, and others that need them for communication. That way, they are out of sight from Umbridge... and they will feel useful again."
He watched Nikita stand and nod. "A brilliant suggestion, sir. I will talk with the Captain, then get on this at once." The elf saluted then disappeared. Kevin sat back and smiled, his previous thought all but forgotten. He had to admit, it was a brilliant plan. He just hoped it would work.
