Morag had been through her list of books five times, and every time she picked up a quill to start to cross off books, intending to cut back on how many she was taking, she ended up adding more instead. She couldn't possibly need that many on the boat, she reasoned with herself, but when she looked at what she'd chosen, she immediately thought of three or more reasons why she might indeed need those very books.
She wondered if she could cut back on how many clothes she took to make up for the books....
Frustrated, she'd planned what weapons to take. It was easy because she intended to take all of them. It wouldn't do to have an attack occur and be without her wands and knives, after all.
She also made a list of potions ingredients and tools, leaving directions for the perishable items and ones likely to be harmed by the moist air of the lake to be charmed against damage.
The clothing list wasn't too terribly hard. If she couldn't sail the boat by herself in it, it didn't make the cut. She was rather pleased with that criteria, but Katya was running her ragged by putting in what she thought Morag would need rather than what Morag wanted. Morag knew this to be true because what she'd asked for would fill a couple of canvas bags rather than the multiple trunks sitting on her bedroom floor. Throwing open the nearest, she gave an exasperated sigh.
'A dress? What will I do with a dress on a sailboat?' she exclaimed.
