Lee snorted and laughed. “I figured,” he said good naturedly. He had to wonder just what Katie was up to these days, but figured he’d get around to asking at some point.
His smile eased away into a solemn expression at the mention of Mrs. WEasley’s death. That he had heard about. “I was very sorry to hear about that.” And even sorrier that he hadn’t made it to the funeral. That had been the last stages of his mother’s final treatment. “I wish I could have come back and helped out.”
At George’s mention of having to be told, his brow furrowed in confusion. George must have noticed, because he explained. “Wow, mate. That’s horrible.” Owed money … ouch. The beating and memory loss even more so. “That … well, bloody sucks, George. I’m glad you’re all right.”
He can’t imagine what it had to have been like. Horrible, that’s all he can think.
He nodded. “That sounds like a good place to go. Luckily I don’t think I need it just yet,” he said, almost cheekily. He is going to get a flat very soon. He doesn’t want to stay in the inn too much longer – better to pay for a flat or a house. He might go down and volunteer though, once he gets settled.
His eyes widen slightly. “Oh wow. So someone is finally good enough for your baby sister,” he joked, though he’s mostly serious. “That’s brilliant for them. Damn, though .. I leave for a couple of years and end up the only single one around, it seems.”
