It was always amusing to watch other men who were the masters of their own homes sweat just a little under his presence. Good. He wasn't completely comfortable.
Perhaps he could make Blagden see the error of his ways. Taking the cognac with a nod, he held the glass, savouring it slowly with a sip. It was rather good. "Well you might not think that is one of her interests but she appears to be running a family and a manor herself. Definitely not traits one can consider ill advised."
"And from what I've seen and heard, she's managed to tame that husband of hers, that's quite a feat."
"I would expect nothing less from any loyal father." He gave Blagden a considered look as he momentarily looked towards the fire. "It was such a great loss to lose two sons, I can only begin to imagine."
"I'm sure you wouldn't want to do anything to put her in danger either, would you now, Blagden?" He turned back, a calculated look on his face as he stared directly.
