Rodolphus had no idea if his wife's nephew still had Malfoy Manor warded against their entry, but he seemed to pass through the wards into the public areas without any trouble.
He was there under polyjuice, naturally, posing as an American business acquaintance of Lucius'. He felt it best that Bellatrix not come, as he was reluctant on several fronts. He was not fond of the idea of her taking Polyjuice during this first half of her pregnancy, nor was he certain that the wards would not actually trigger to her presence.
But he was there for Lucius. The loss was one far greater than any he had suffered in the past year, as one of the last true followers of their Dark Lord was laid to rest. He took keen note of who attended, and even moreso, who did not.
He thought long and hard about revealing his true presence today, but felt it best to keep a low profile. He did not speak overly long with his sister-in-law, nor his nephew, nor his own godson.
But he had garnered enough information just from the general level of chatter of the guests. The big news above and beyond that of Lucius' death, was the return of their new Minister. What ho! He had to hide his smirk at the news that Dolores Umbridge had crawled out of whatever cave she was in to claim herself the new minister.
It was indeed a most... interesting and yet unexpected development, but Rodolphus had already heard the murmurings and mutterings of the crowd to know it was something of a mixed reception. It pondered considerable thought. Considerable thought, and a possible... meeting with the new Minister to see where her alliances fell.
If they were lucky, then victory was but one step closer. He had to hide that thought as he worked through the crowd, as it was not the sort of facial expression an innocent person should be wearing at a funeral. But he would lament Lucius' loss in more ways than one, as he paid his last respects.
