Cass nearly laughed thinking about Natalie and Susan both, as well as the temptation in Gabrielle. 'There has been opportunity enough,' he said with a smirk, but waving away the thought soon enough.
He did smile about her assessment of Percy. 'Well he does keep telling me this is wrong,' he said. 'But I don't care, I don't think he does either any more.' Well maybe he did a bit, but not as much as before. A gush of tenderness flowed through him at the thought, nearly making her miss her next statement. Nearly, but not quite, and that made him frown.
'The toad? You mean Umbridge?' he asked surprised. 'Why would we need to protect him? They've worked together before, haven't they? Even if he obviously doesn't like her, I can't see how he'd need to be protected. Well apart from making sure she doesn't find out about the two of us.'
He looked at her, deciding that must be what she meant. 'If it comes down to it, I'll leave the job if necessary. Percy is more important than me, I'll...I'll find another way to do the same thing.' Ok so that was easier said than even thought. The idea alone had his insides cringing, but it didn't matter, because he meant it. Percy was more important that he could ever be.
