Pansy had arrived early, having left Polly at home with Wicksy. Harry had been surprised that she intended to go to the funeral, but she wasn't going to let Percy go through this tragedy alone. She knew Cass would want to be with Percy but not feel he could, and she intended to see that he did.
Her plan had been to put herself on one side of Percy and be quite obvious about insisting Cass sit on the other, but her plans went awry when one pushy redhead strong-armed her way into the arrangements and refused to give way even though Pansy insisted that one of his Aurors should sit beside him. The Scottish hoyden had looked at her quite coldly and told her to give up her own seat if she wanted an Auror there. And then she'd planted herself firmly beside Percy for the rest of the time!
Bad enough that she couldn't sit with Harry and that Percy had to go through such an ordeal without the person he cared about beside him and that Cass couldn't offer comfort in public the way he wanted to, but she didn't have to be rude about it!
Rather than embarrass Percy by making a scene, Pansy had harrumphed and tossed her head, proceeding to stick to Percy just as closely. She graciously greeted those who came to speak to him and ignored the little usurper as best she could.
She did do her best to keep Cass beside her, though. If he couldn't sit by Percy, at least he'd be near and could offer support that way, she thought.
She was very solicitous throughout the prelude to the funeral and the funeral itself, thinking only of her friend and how he felt (although she had already made sure prior to the funeral that she was completely stunning in the finest dress robes of black silk shot through with royal purple thread....it might be a funeral but she was going to look good!)
And so it was that she had a front row seat for the debacle that ended the ceremony. All thoughts of Percy and his misery ended, and all she could think about was Harry and how this was going to affect him.
