Neville knew he was just pissing her off even more, but he was just as upset - this was all news to him and quite the surprise. He didn't enjoy fighting with Ginny but he would, especially when she was blaming their relationship for things that had nothing to do with battle.
"You didn't run away. I was there Ginny, I watched you stand eye to eye and challenge the bastard and fought hard." He scowled when she wrenched the shirt out of his hands and was hurt even more with what she had said next.
"I see, and I was just keeping you chained up and physically preventing you from training then? That's a load of shite Ginny." She was stalking toward her suitcase again until he came in between - something he'd never done before - he was having a lot of firsts with Ginny in that moment, none of them very pleasant but perhaps needed.
Neville stared directly at her and she seemed to be slightly stunned to him. "You fought, you stood up to him and fought even while you were bleeding all over the fucking grass." It looked like she was going to just stalk off again so he took her by the shoulders and if yelling is what got through to her then... "YOU DIDN'T RUN! And if you never listen to me ever again, at least listen now - You didn't run, you're not a coward and I won't put up with you boosting my confidence but cutting yourself down." Ginny was resisting him as best she could, he could tell, but he didn't want to give her room to refute.
"Do you even fucking realize how many people you saved? Hmmm? You got out so you could fight another day and keep protecting those who need it, and they still do. Rodolphus Lestrange is a evil fucker who's just as insane as his cursed wife." Neville felt a fire light in his chest when he remembered what they had done to his parents, and even though he didn't speak it, it spurred him on. "Someone will get him, someone will get her... it may not be me, and it may not be you... but GODSDAMNIT Ginny... YOU.DIDN'T.RUN." Neville shook her slightly, punctuating each word so it actually sank in. "You never have, and you never will. Not even from me. You're no quitter Ginny Weasley, you may be a stubborn arse, an infuriating one... but you're no quitter, and a damn far cry from EVER being a coward."
Neville let go of her then, still steaming and staring at her, not knowing what else to say, or yell at her, but was prepared to if she started acting foolish again.
