Summary: Gabrielle's adoration for heroics gets the best of her when a not-so-nice vampire with a knack for acting brings her her prized possession. ...But how much is really an act?
Having said “Bonne nuit” to the children, to Fleur, and to Bill, Gabrielle was finally preparing to turn in for the night herself. Owling back and forth with Kevin had taken up an awful lot of time, but she was not tired. Childish as it was, she still struggled with getting to sleep without her notebook. So many ideas for music and such swam in her head constantly, and placing them anywhere but in the beloved pages seemed a waste. With each day the notion seemed sillier, even to her, but she could not deny the unwavering, stupid attachment.
At least she had been happier, that was for sure. The children at the primary school were in far improved health, and the spots that had plagued her porcelain skin faded just as Fleur promised. She would surely sing with Kevin again soon. Yes, Gabrielle Delacour was no less charming or beautiful than she was before the loss of her notebook, before the pox marks… men on the street like Cassius Vaisey proved that.
She caught herself thinking of the handsome Auror as she entered her room from the hall, ready to rest her head- but not before brushing her hair many, many times, of course! Gabrielle noticed nothing unusual as she delicately closed the door and moved across the ground, almost floating in a pale pink nightgown that hid her feet. Grabbing a brush from her bedside table and gliding it through knotless hair, the girl then reached for a silver hand mirror brought from France.
The glass was not yet level with her face when it dropped to the floor. Gabrielle had heard a very sudden, distinct noise behind her, and lost her grip on the trinket when startled. Whirling around, hair spinning about her, she found a tall, unmistakable blonde perched on her bed… again.
Though she was not entirely surprised, she was still confused and afraid. Did she NOT just close and lock the door? Did she forget?? How…?
“La… Jand’air! You… you-!” She huffed and started over. “You ‘ave to stop scaring me like zis, you are going to make my ‘eart stop!”
…Upset or not, she was blushing.
