That was precisely the reason behind Severus' invasion of Narcissa's personal space. And if she was intimidated by his prowess, so much the better for him. He was beyond annoyed that she had returned his son to him in such a manner, designed to cause a scene.
"I am sure a woman as educated as you was aware of the recent outbreak of Dragon Pox, were you not?" He quirked a brow in her direction. "The threat is indeed gone and as such I had every intention of retrieving my son. I do not fancy him having the same upbringing you bestowed upon Draco." What upbringing? Severus added silently.
One thing Severus was not going to stand for was Narcissa attempting to lecture him on what facial expressions he should be making. "I think he understand the difference between the look on my face and you attempting to look down your nose at me. Whereas mine can pass in polite company, I can assure you that many people do not fancy viewing your nostrils."
Severus was completely aware of his implications, it was more how far could he goad Narcissa into speaking. "You would not like to think poorly of me?" Severus asked, mocking the woman. "Yet you stand before me looking at me with such contempt. Dare I call you the hypocrite that you are?
"But of course, Draco is innocent in all crimes is he not? I am simply the man who is meddling, leading him down some path of depravity. We must never think ill of our own children. It is to blame outside influences.
"I would appreciate your insight if it were given freely. Not you attempting to put me in my place. I assure you, Mrs Malfoy, if the Dark Lord," the words were hissed, Severus attempting to keep at least some things discreet, "couldn't put me in my place, there is no way in heaven or hell that you could do so."
