"Uneventful," he responded. "Cormac took Emma to school for the first time today. So I stayed at home and played with the cat."
What the hell was he saying? He rolled his eyes inwardly at himself, shaking his head at how idiotic he sounded. Taking a sip of tea to clear his head, he glanced at Terry again, knowing he needed to say something.
He picked up one of the biscuits and took a bite out of it, Emma's voice ringing out in his head, telling him to stop dawdling.
He wasn't dawdling. Much.
Finally, he allowed himself to look at Terry again, and he pulled in a breath, just wanting to get it over with.
