Lee had browsed the shop for awhile, Bane quiet but for the faint jingle of her licenses on her collar. She was barely a year old but she was well-trained -- his sister Summer had a drab hand with animals for all that she had no magical talent.
He was surprised that as he stepped outside, a small form sprinted over and flung itself at his legs. He blinked down at the little girl, who had just called him Daddy, something that reminded him that he didn't have any children of his own yet. There was time, though.
"What's this?" he said kindly, touching the little girl's head. It was an ill-kept secret that he adored children, and his niece and nephew back home, as well as the extended cousins, could speak to that fact.
"Who are you, little bit?" he asked. She was tiny compared to him, paler than him as well though just as obviously mixed more toward his end of the skin spectrum. Bane snuffled at her feet.
