She was upstairs with the litter of kittens, which were, she had to admit, some of the sweetest kittens she'd ever seen in her life. As much as she thought it was fair for her son to take them, she was a bit sad to see them go.
Still, when she heard her son's voice, followed by Susan's, she got up, smiling as she headed out onto the landing seeing Susan and Cass standing below the large staircase.
'Up here with the kittens,' she said with a smile. 'Susan you're looking lovely,' she added. Really her son should be glad to find such a woman. Maybe if she was lucky the responsibility of the kittens would inspire him to take some responsibility in a relationship. She had after all sensed something in his letters lately. Perhaps it wasn't as far off as he'd led her to think? Oh she did want grandchildren one day.
