She seemed smug about something, and that really annoyed Miles. "I'd like to think I'm doing the best I can, and Daphne is definitely doing a fine job." It was the truth, and whatever she was smug about, he wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of saying anything bad about Daphne. She seemed the sort to be over critical.
Miles didn't know what else to say to her, and it seemed if he reacted to her comment, she'd only find something else critical to say. He tried to hide a sigh as he stood to show her around. Nigel seemed to be fussing again, wanting to be down on the floor and making his great escape. "He's into everything at the moment, Aurelie." It amused him a little as Nigel almost fell out of her arms.
"Well, ahh, this is the drawing room, and you've seen the entrance hall. I'm afraid this place is fairly steeped in blood magic, so there are lots of rooms that people just can't walk into." He started to take her up the grand staircase. Thankfully, most of the portraits on the walls were either asleep, or had stopped talking centuries ago, thankfully. "I forgot to ask, where do you live these days?" Miles wanted to know so he could avoid the place like the plague.
