"Well, she's a rather good mother," he replied, wondering just how crazy this woman was. "Nigel's a great little kid. Liam lost his mother last year, so he's rather taken a shine to Daphne. She's very good with them." What did she want him to say about that? He had no idea if they were doing things right or wrong - although Romilda seemed to nag him if she thought he was doing things wrong with Liam. She'd been nagging far less since Daphne had been around.
But when she started talking about them having more children - together - he started to shake his head and look at her in utter mortification. "Oh no, well, we're not ahh... thinking about that." Ever. "Two is plenty." Two too many, actually. The woman was mad if she thought they'd actually want more kids.
Miles wanted to chuckle at the thought of them being equal, and merely wore a rather smug smirk. Let her think whatever she liked at that. That sort of thinking didn't sit well, but then this wasn't really a conventional marriage - they were going to get out of it as soon as he damn well could find a way to get over this 'death do us part' loophole. Zorbin had taken one look at Aurelie and had served the tea, leaving as quickly as he could from his former mistress.
"The cold can have certain benefits when you're newly married," he said with a little chuckle, being rather glad that this woman hadn't liked the place. He gathered she was the sort to like large crowds, with big ceremonies. "Well it was all rather quick and uneventful. I mean, Antonin simply said a few words, then he performed the bonding spell." That's about all Miles wanted to remember of what he'd seen in the Pensieve, not the inane grins on their drunken faces as they agreed to something no sober person should seriously contemplate.
"Yes, she shouldn't be too long," he hoped and prayed that Daphne didn't dawdle, although knowing Liam, he'd want to visit every shop in town, and spend an hour or two at Honeydukes. He could sense she had a bee in her bonnet about her daughter, and Miles felt rather defensive of his wife in this situation. Merlin only knew what he would have done if his mother had even been alive to live to this age and want to meddle in his affairs.
"You were very fortunate. Daphne was... well, she is still only now just getting her strength back, and eating well again. Don't be surprised when you see her. Nigel had it for a few days, and Liam is only now just recovering." Why was she here, exactly? Was she just being a sticky beak, or like most women, did she have some hidden agenda? He had no idea, and kept to his teacup.
