The tone of her voice was always going to grate on that nerve that ran over his left eye, and straight to his temple, which was twitching at her words.
But he knew that he actually deserved most of what she said. Some of it was true. "This has nothing to do with Daphne, and you know it. She's doing as much as she can, perhaps more than she should, having been sick herself."
He ran a hand over his head as he let out a sigh. "What have you heard?" he asked in a threatening tone. She had that little vindictive gleam in her eye that truly annoyed the fuck out of him.
"I did all I could to protect Liam," he added somewhat defensively. "He got vaccinated - this wasn't supposed to happen." It wasn't supposed to happen, yet it had and now Liam was covered in pox marks as bad as Daphne had been, and his face was swollen from them.
