Romilda knew that Liam was sick. She noticed something odd after she seemed to have been hovering around Millicent's bedside for what she realised was a couple of days.
Her heart went out to her friend. To be this sick was one thing - to lose her baby - and to have a full birth and then lose it - was something else. She wanted to be there for her friend when she woke, but she hadn't. She'd been making sure Ella was okay.
That's when she noticed the lack of a pull to her son. She fled to Bletchley Manor (hating the place more and more every day), only to see Liam lying abed with the same damn pox. She'd instantly wanted to go to him, but saw that he was clinging like a limpet to Daphne.
It was hard to keep away, but she could see that her son was sick, and feverish and obviously delirious. But keeping herself hidden in the walls (this place felt horrible and dark and slimy - how the hell was her son going to grow up here?), she kept her own vigil over Liam.
To his credit (and reluctantly, to Daphne's), they were doing all they could for him, and for a (very fleeting) moment, she had seen a side of Miles that had she'd only glimpsed very briefly in that short period they had been together.
But there was more going on, and after hearing snippets of conversation between Miles and his... wife... she'd pieced together that Miles was somehow at fault for all this nonsense around town. Hearing him talk freely of the Lestranges - damn - the man was a fool and was going to get her son killed.
She couldn't help but snort as he begged Liam to get better. Miles finally noticed her as she stood there, arms folded and mouth pursed. Seeing the flick of his wand, she realised he'd had the consideration to put up a privacy charm.
"What do I want?" she snorted. "My son is lying there only a step away from death, and you're asking me what the bloody hell I want?"
She hovered over to him. "I don't know what game you're playing Miles - this happy families nonsense with Daphne, but I've seen and heard enough to know that you're involved in whatever this is that's been going around town, and now you've dragged Liam into it!"
