Miles honestly didn't know what he'd be doing right now without Daphne. If Millicent was in a coma, then hell, he'd be looking after Liam on his own. She seemed to just know exactly what to say to make him feel good.
Liam seemed to brighten just a little at the thought of Daphne writing an owl to Ella for him, and he started to babble to her about what he wanted to say. For once it didn't annoy him that he kept talking about the girl - at least he was showing enough energy for that.
When Daphne went off to get some food, Miles hoped Liam was up for having a bath, but he really seemed too weak. Instead Miles just cast a quick cleaning charm, and summoned fresh pyjamas for the boy, reassuring him that there was no way any bad pirates were going to take anyone away whilst he was sick. "I'm pretty sure all the bad pirates are sick too, and their ships are floundering against the rocks, and smashing into a million pieces." It got a bit of a smile out of the boy, and by the time Liam asked him to tell a story, Daphne had returned with some food.
The scent of the food did make his stomach growl, but he plumped up the pillow behind Liam's head so he could eat. Liam didn't seem too enthused by the soup, but Miles encouraged him to have a couple of mouthfuls before he saw the boy was not wanting it.
He handed over the milkshake, pouring a few drops of sleeping potion into it, grateful the boy seemed to like it more and did try to sip it. He was relieved when Liam closed his eyes and seemed happy to drift back off to sleep, looking far more peaceful in his sleep than being in pain. Merlin pray he would improve soon.
"Thank you," he said softly to Daphne, giving her a very grateful look for all she had done - here and back in the shower. He had a hell of a lot to make up for, but right now, he needed her, and for that he was grateful beyond measure.
